MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving) held a press conference at Feldmann Imports this morning in an effort to create awareness about the ongoing problem of drunk driving. There were representatives from the Eden Prairie Police department as well as Minnesota State Troopers on hand to honor one of their own, a fallen officer who was killed by a drunk driver after her patrol car was totalled by a drunk driver. The officer’s wrecked cruiser was on hand, on a MADD trailer, so everyone could see what a vehicle can do at high speed in the hands of a drunk driver.
Local news cameras and field reporters were on hand to record the press conference. Wives and mothers of drunk driving victims were on hand, several told their personal stories of loss to the assembled group.
During the holidays we all enjoy spending time with family and friends, take a moment to think of those who cannot share the holidays with their loved one lost to drunk driving. Even if you think you’re fine, even if you’ve only had a drink or two, call a cab or call a service that will take you, and your car home… they do exist. They pick you up in a mini van, a driver drives you and another driver follows and parks your car in your driveway for you.
