Mercedes Benz Sales Report July 2012! 5.8% Better than July 2011 and Up 18.6% for the Year!

Mercedes Unit Sales Report 2012

Have a look at this chart for July 2012 Mercedes Benz Unit Sales by vehicle class and growth year over year and month over month.

July 2012 was a pretty good month for Mercedes-Benz vehicle sales in the United States. Sales of several Mercedes-Benz vehicle classes were up, most notable the new 2013 SL roadster has been proving a brisk seller, in fact, they last a day or two, if that, in dealer show rooms before they’re sold… most of the first several waves of new SLs were pre ordered and sold before they were ever built.

The C class had a good month as well, the newly redesigned entry level sedans are proving as popular as ever and excellent lease deals during the month of July didn’t hurt. We see the steady decline of the R class coming through, as we sold twice as many G wagens nationally as we did R class vehicles… what does that tell you about the future of the R class?

M class sales numbers were disappointing, but it’s not for a lack of buyers… it’s for a lack of cars. Ask any dealer in the country and they will tell you.. if they could get them from the factory, they would sell them in a heartbeat, they just simply cannot built them fast enough to meet the demand.

Here is the official MBUSA press release that accompanied the sales numbers chart above, August 1, 2012.

Mercedes Sales 2011 Best on Record! Strong December Sales Report Caps off 2011 with 264,460 Vehicles Sold!

Mercedes 2011 Sales Figures

Mercedes Benz USA has released the 2011 sales report! It confirms the biggest sales year ever! The official count from MBUSA is 264,460 vehicles in 2011, almost a 20% increase over the total sales number in 2010. November was a huge month for Mercedes-Benz sales, December proved tobe a big month as well. December 2011 sales numbers were up slightly more than 30% over December 2010, a huge increase. As usual, the C class represented the largest sales volume, E class sales were brisk while the new M class SUV continued to sell at dealerships as fast as they could arrive from the Alabama factory. Check the sales chart by model for December below as well as the official MBUSA press release.

If you keep track of the sales battle between the luxury brands, you have probably seen that BMW was the leader in total volume in 2011, Mercedes Benz was a very close second and Lexus was third. It’s the first time in many years that Lexus wasn’t the top volume seller. The tragic earthquake in Japan disrupted Lexus sufficiently this year to set just about every link in their supply chain back, far enough to make way for BMW and Mercedes to slide into the number one and two sales volume slots.

We’ll have to see what 2012 brings… there are plenty of people still talking nothing but doom and gloom for the economy, but I talk to plenty of people, every day, who are doing very well and expect things to only get better. (official press release below).

What is the Mercedes Benz Competitor Conquest Certificate Program and How Does it Work? Conquest Program Continues Through October 2011!

Mercedes Competitor Conquest

The Mercedes Benz Competitor Conquest Certificate Program that Mercedes-Benz has been offering for the past several months is still active, it’s in place through the end of October 2011! This is a GREAT program for new car purchases, if you’re looking for a deal, and you currently lease or own any of the 11 above mentioned competing luxury brands, look no further.

How does the Mercedes Benz Competitor Conquest Program Work?

Simple and straight forward: If you currently own or lease a BMW, Audi,. Lexus, Porsche, Jaguar, Range Rover / Land Rover, Acura, Infiniti, Cadillac, Lincoln or Volvo vehicle and you lease or buy any of the eligible Mercedes Benz vehicles (everything except the SLS AMG or Sprinter), you’re in for a big discount. You simply have to prove ownership, or better said, prove that the vehicle is currently registered to you, and the discounts will be applied by your local dealer at the time of the new car purchase. You don’t have to trade in the competitor’s car, simply prove ownership.

Mercedes Competitor Conquest Discounts By Class – October 2011
Mercedes-competitor-conquest
There is no trick, there is no catch. If you have any of these competing luxury brands you’re in for big competitor conquest discounts. I personally took advantage of this program when I leased my new C300 several months ago. I owned a 1998 Volvo V70R station wagon at the time, it had about 108,000 miles on it, it was 13 years old and in need of some expensive repairs. I ended up using that car to take advantage of the Competitor Conquest Program from Mercedes-Benz, I got $2,000 towards the new C class lease and ended up selling the Volvo to my friend and mechanic that had been maintaining it for me for the past several years. He did the repairs the car needed and got a great car, I got a big discount on my new C class… a win / win.

Step up now if you want to take advantage of the program, there are a very limited number of 2011 models left, across all classes and when they’re gone, they’re gone. The 2012 models are eligible for discounts too, but just not as large depending upon what you’re buying.

Mercedes Benz Sales Figures June 2011 – Best June in MBUSA History! Sales up 10.4% for First Half of 2011

What a month! June 2011 was the strongest June for Mercedes-Benz USA sales on record while 2011 represents the best first half sales totals for MBUSA EVER, 22,563 total units sold in June 2011 with 118,021 total units sold YTD for 2011, Wow! I’ve posted the official MBUSA press release regarding the June 2011 sales figures below the sales chart showing total units by class.

What I find so interesting, and exciting here, is that a bunch of great new models haven’t even been released yet and Mercedes-Benz is putting up these very strong lease numbers… the all new, re-designed ML is due in soon, the C class coupe hasn’t even arrived in dealerships yet and Mercedes-Benz is putting up huge sales numbers. Where will the numbers go when these new, direct injection engines are available in all of these vehicles?

As cliche as it is for the car guy to say it… it really is a good time to buy a new vehicle. We’re paying more for good trade ins than ever before, finance and lease rates are at historic lows… it’s not rhetoric… read anything online and you’ll hear the same message, it’s a good time to buy or lease a new vehicle.

Here are the numbers by class:

Still in the Wrapper! Quartz Blue Mercedes-Benz C300 4matic Sport, Premium 1 Package and Multimedia Package!

This 2011 Mercedes-Benz C300 4matic Sport model, in the rare Quartz Blue Metallic color, just rolled off the transporter! This is a very well equipped 2011 model C class with a grey / black interior, on the outside it’s got the new LED daytime running lamps on the lower part of the front bumper too.

This in only about the third or fourth Quartz Blue C class I’ve seen come through the dealership, and it’s nicely equipped. The complete window sticker / option list is below for your reference, its got the Premium 1 Package (P1 Package), Multimedia Package as well as heated seats and a couple of other options.

You could drive a long way in this one and never see another like it. MSRP is $45,155, but with all the incentives out there this month, chances are you can get it for considerably less than that.

Mercedes Benz Adaptive High Beam Assist: New Feature or Old News?

What does this 2011 Mercedes-Benz E350 4matic sedan have in common with this 1960 Cadillac convertible? They both have an automatic headlight dimming system! Mercedes-Benz made the Adaptive High Bean Assist feature available on the ‘new body style’ E class cars in 2010. The systems essentially keeps an eye on the road ahead of you at night, while you’re driving with your high beams on a desolate road, the car can sense the headlights of oncoming traffic up ahead and automatically dim the headlamps as not to bother the driver of the oncoming car.

The technology Mercedes-Benz uses is a sensor embedded in the top of the windshield. It’s considered a safety feature by Mercedes-Benz, as it allows you to have the best, brightest lights blazing when appropriate, giving you a commanding view of the road, even at night to keep you safe. One might also consider it a convenience feature, as you don’t constantly have to adjust your high beams as oncoming traffic appears. Learn more about the Mercedes-Benz Adaptive High Beam Assist feature on the E class HERE at MBUSA.com.

Notice the light sensor on the dash of the 1960 Cadillac.

What’s funny is that a similar system was available on a number of American made vehicles, most notably, Cadillacs beginning in the mid 1950s. The red 1960 Cadillac convertible pictured here was at Lake Country Classics in Minneapolis when I visited that shop last week. Bruce Kelly, proprietor of Lake Country Classics and vintage Mercedes-Benz SL authority generally works on and restores Mercedes-Benz vehicles, the occasional Jaguar, but this time he had a customer’s 1960 Cadillac convertible on hand.

I saw this thing sticking up on the dash of the Cadillac and I asked him what it was for. Bruce explained to me that it was the sensor for the automatic high beam adjustment. When it senses the headlights of an oncoming car it automatically adjusts your high beams back down to the regular headlight setting… on a 1960 Cadillac, it was available earlier than that, in the mid 1950s.

Of course, the technology Mercedes-Benz employs for the Adaptive High Beam Assist feature is far more advanced that what Cadillac was using 50 years ago. The modern Mercedes-Benz system works better, more efficiently, more quickly and more reliably than the old Caddy system, but it’s interesting to know that the idea of not having to worry about blinding oncoming drivers at night with your high beams was thought about and essentially ‘solved’ more than 50 years ago in Detroit.

There is always something to see and learn when you visit Bruce at Lake Country Classics in Minneapolis, it’s a bit off the beaten path, but if you can find it, it’s worth a visit. This 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190SL was parked next to the Cadillac when I arrived last week. The 190 is currently for sale on eBay… with its $35,000 reserve price already reached with about 5 days left in the auction.

New Mercedes Benz Special Finance Rates 1.9% – 3.9% APR: May 2011

Mercedes-Benz released aggressive new car interest rates for the “bread and butter” vehicles in the Mercedes line up for the month of May 2011. The C, E, GLK and M class vehicles are all eligible for special finance rates as low as 1.9% for short 36 month terms, a point or two higher for loans as long as 5 and a half years depending upon the model you buy.

Class Model Yr 24-36 Months 37-66 Months
C (300 + 350) 2011 1.99% 2.99%
E (350) 2011 2.99% 3.99%
M (350) 2011 1.99% 2.99%
GLK 2011 1.99% 2.99%

Even if you’re in a position to pay cash for your new Mercedes Benz, you can take advantage of the 1.9% financing for 36 months freeing up the cash to work for you somewhere else. 1.9% is almost free money.
