DaveKnowsCars.com: Mission & Motivation

I don’t claim to know everything about cars or the car business, but I can tell you that cars truly are my passion.

My mission in creating this blog is to establish a new kind of resource for car buyers. I’d like to present an inside look into the car business and to shed light on some of the common misconceptions about finding and buying a car.

My motivation in creating DaveKnowsCars.com comes from the belief in the tagline… ‘Finding and buying the right car should be fun an easy’. With all the information available to buyers, it’s never been so easy to buy a new car. I don’t understand why some people make it so difficult (buyers and dealers alike!).

Fun, usually not the first word that comes to mind when people think of car shopping, but if you’ve got the right person working with you through the process it actually can be. I’d like to be that person, I’d like to be your car guy.

Whether you’re located here in the twin cities or a thousand miles away, whether you want to buy a ten year old Toyota Camry for $2,000 or a new Mercedes-Benz S65 AMG for $200,000 I can help.

Please feel free to leave comments on any of my blog postings. Email me if you’ve got questions about a car I’ve featured or even if you’ve got a question about the best way to negotiate a deal with your local car dealer, I’m here to help, to be your car guy. Here’s an example…

The best man from my wedding and his wife called me just after Christmas 2009 from a Subaru dealership in Denver where they live. They told me where they were and what they were trying to do. After a ten minute conversation with me they were able to negotiate a great deal on a new Subaru Forester.

Sure, I wished the car they wanted had been at the dealership where I work and that they could have combined a visit to Minneapolis with their new car purchase, but it wasn’t to be, I don’t sell new Subarus and that’s what they wanted.

I was happy to be a resource for them, to help them through the negotiating process, to help them make a good decision and get a fair shake from the dealer they were working with.

That’s all it seems any car buyer wants, a fair shake. I’m here to help make sure you get a fair shake, a fair deal, from me or any other car dealer.

Please feel free to email or call me, I want to be “your car guy.”
