Hi there, Congrats on your high mile diesel, and thanks for your note. I just checked these links, they seem to work for me... at least they take me to the MBUSA website... after that, it's up to them I guess. Have you applied for your badge?

Just tried to get an application - link is not working. (1987 300 SDL - >375K miles
It already has a 250,000km badge on it, but I wanted to get a 500,000km one.)

Thank you so much for explaining the difference in the two models. A local Ford dealer had a 2008 and stated it was a "Sport" model. I thought it was a standard, we debated it until we brought up your info on it.....thank you (again) for clearing up a question regarding a vehicle for me.

Anyone know if this has been extended for May 2012? I know there's still a conquest program, but have they tightened up the requirements? For example, would a 2008 Honda Accord EX-L qualify?

Thanks.

Dave,
I have just discovered your piece on the 2011 Keels and Wheels Concourse and was surprised to see a couple of pictures of my 280 SE 3.5 Cabriolet, one with me in the background sitting in a chair. I too am a classic car lover and as such took it upon myself to start the Renaissance Euro Fest Classic European Auto and Motorcycle Show, held each October in Ridgeland, MS just outside of Jackson. Our show has been very successful, attracting over 15,000 people to view autos and motorcycles from 8 States, built in 5 countries. When you have the time please go to our web site and check out the review of our 2011 show and give some thought to accepting my invitation to join us this year October 5-7. In addition to my 3.5 Cab, I have a 1960 300d, "Adenhauer" hardtop sedan and a 220 SE "Fintail" sedan, all of which I show in the Renaissance. Today I am off to Baton Rouge, LA for the Live Oak Concours to show my Adenhauer, which I will also show at Keels and Wheels this year. I hope to meet you along the way and look forward to Benz talking.

Comment on P1 Package vs. P2 Package: 2010 Mercedes Benz E 350 by Brett

Hi Dave-

This post is incredibly informative, thank you. I have been researching the various MBZ models for a couple of weeks, and was having trouble understanding what tech comes with what model and trim package.

If you don't mind, I have a couple of questions for you:

(1) You state that the iPod/iPhone kit is in the glovebox. I thought that starting with the 2010 model they moved the USB port inside the arm rest. Is that not true? Or, is the USB port completely separate from the iPod/iPhone integration.

(2) When playing music from an iPod, does the 2010 allow you to navigate playlists, artists, etc. from the COMAND unit?

(3) The 2010 has bluetooth for calling, but does it also have bluetooth music streaming? If not, do you know when that became available? Similarly, is bluetooth music streaming available in the 2010 via a software or firmware upgrade?

(4) Finally, it seems as if the 2010/2011 models right now are priced pretty similarly at around $45,000 for a CPO. Yet, the 2009 takes a steep drop to around $35,000 for a CPO. I assume this is because most vehicles take a dip after the 3rd year, and that this particular dip is also due to the drastic body style change between the 2009 and 2010 years. With that in mind, with the 2013 E-Class coming out around August/September of this year, and with the 2013 bringing with it a refresh on the design, it would seem to me that the 2010 E350 will take a dip in price once the 2013s become available. If the dip between the 2009 and 2010 is indicative, it would seem that waiting 6 months to buy the 2010 E350 would save about $6,000-7,000. What are your thoughts?

I know that's a lot of questions. I would truly appreciate your input on any or all of them. Thank you.
