Mercedes Benz Sales Numbers by Model! Sales Report February 2011 E class and C class Sales Up

It’s that time of the month again, time to look back at the February 2011 sales numbers and see how Mercedes-Benz did. The official MBUSA Press Release is pasted below as well as the sales graph by model. Once again new car sales were led by the C and E class vehicles lines, slightly up over February of 2010. Overall sales were up almost 10% from last year which is an encouraging sign.

It was interesting to see total SLS AMG units sold year to date at153. If they keep that pace going they will sell close to 1000 SLS AMG cars this year, and with the introduction of the SLS AMG Roadster it could even be more than that. Not that a ‘halo car’ has much of an impact on anything other than good publicity and creating an enthusiast following, it’s just interesting to watch the numbers.

Finance specials for March on the C, GLK and M classes may boost their sales further. Conquest and Loyalty programs will surely help the E class along this month. So… without further ado…. the sales report from MBUSA:

Sales Up 5.1% for the Month and 9.5% Year-to-Date

Mercedes Benz Sales Numbers November 2010: Biggest November Since 2007 with 19,037 Units

Things continue to improve in the Mercedes-Benz business. It’s nice to see how things have improved from the same time last year. Here is the official press release and the sales figures for the month of November 2010. Another 36 SLS AMG gullwing cars were delivered in November, our second SLS will be ready for delivery to its new owner in February I believe… that’s pretty exciting.

E and GL class vehicles are selling really well which is great to see. Quality vehicles continue to do well despite a slowly recovering economy.

First Car in the World Available with Full LED Headlamps – 2012 Mercedes Benz CLS550

Mercedes-Benz pioneers another first in the automotive world, the first car available with full LED headlamps. The newly redesigned CLS550 sedan that will be released to dealer inventories in mid 2011 as a 2012 model will be available with full LED headlamps. The LED headlamps will be part of the Premium 1 Package (P1), Bi-Xenon headlamps will be standard equipment on the new CLS.

During the past couple of years we’ve seen small strips or ‘brows’ of LED lights appearing as turn signals, running lights and fog lights (as on Audi vehicles, many BMW models and Mercedes-Benz cars), but no one has come up with a full LED system that gives you brighter lights to see by at night, but they also make better use of the vehicle’s energy and power more efficiently.

There are many other changes to the new CLS, completely new body, not just a mild massaging, a new engine… and… brace yourself… 4matic models will be introduced during the summer of 2011! More details to come… check back here soon for more.

Mercedes Benz Sales Figures By Class: July 2010

July 2010 was a good sales month for Mercedes-Benz, increasing overall units sold from July 2009 during July of 2010. It was also a good month for Feldmann Imports in terms of new  Mercedes-Benz sold we also have a strong showing from the Certified Pre Owned camp.

Below if a table showing sales by class during the months of July 2009 and 2010 and percent changes. C class sales are up about 15%, but it’s new E class sales that really stand out to me. While E class sales were down in July over last July, total E class sales for the year are up more than 80% over 2009, we can attribute most of that I think to the new body style, aggressive deals, and a loyal following, some people just won’t drive anything else.

Sales of core vehicles like the C, E, GL and ML and GLK class SUVs remain strong, but some of the more specialty models have suffered in terms of total sales numbers. 47 new SLS AMG cars were delivered in July, one of them here at Feldmann Imports, see the article I wrote about our first SLS delivery here.  And what about the G Wagen? A lot of people call in with questions about the Mercedes-Benz G wagen, most people don’t realize how rare those trucks really are. Notice here, that only one more G wagen was delivered in July than new SLS AMG… and the G wagen is half the price, but still $100k+ ! Built in its own factory in Austria, it’s one of the rarest Mercedes-Benz models today.

2011 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Achieves Top Safety Status from IIHS

It's always been safe, but never THIS safe!

I found this article on a site about Mercedes-Benz vehicles that I visit regularly,, I thought it might be of interest to readers. I’m not always big on awards, whether the award is actually worth anything, good marks for safety are always good.

The Mercedes E-Class has been given a top safety award for the first time from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

17 May 2010 | JDavis

Adding to its already high appeal, the Mercedes-Benz E-Class has achieved top safety status.  The Mercedes E-Class has been given a top safety award for the first time from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). A score of “good” must be earned in each of the following: front, side, rollover and rear crash protection tests in order for the Top Safety Picks accolade to be gained.  The Mercedes-Benz E-Class, with its many safety features, set the standard in each category.

The IIHS particularly praised the decision of Mercedes-Benz to implement greater padding to the front and rear doors to improve protection in side-impact crashes. Because the safety of drivers, passengers and other drivers are the biggest concern of Mercedes-Benz, the E-Class Saloon has been fitted with a host of features to help make driving safer.

These include innovations that take appropriate action in the event of danger occurring, help to limit damage if an accident happens and ensure that things are made easier in aiding people after an incident has taken place. Among the features utilised are Attention Assist to warn motorists if they are at risk of falling asleep behind the wheel flashing adaptive brake lights to warn fellow motorists travelling behind that there may be a danger ahead.

“The E class was redesigned for the 2010 model year. This is the first time the E class has earned the Institute’s top safety designation. Earlier this year design changes were made to the padding in the front and rear doors to improve protection in side impact crashes. The TOP SAFETY PICK award applies to E class models built after March 2010.”

But What’s the Catch? Sign and Drive Lease: Mercedes Benz C300 4matic Sport

There is no catch! The Sign and Drive Lease from Mercedes-Benz on the 2010 Mercede-Benz C300 Sport was so successful in April that it’s back in May. If you want my no holds barred opinon of leasing have a look at my “Why Lease?” article I posted a couple of weeks ago… no sugar coating here! Below are the details of the new program:

Mercedes-Benz Sign and Drive Lease: C300 4matic Sport
May 2010:

Based on a car with an MSRP (window sticker price) of $40,275
10,000 miles per year
36 month lease term
$459 per month!

So how does it really break down?
A $40,275 MSRP is going to be a Black, Arctic White, or Mars Red C300 4matic Sport model with the Premium 1 Package (Auto-Dimming Mirrors, Four-way power lumbar support – driver only, Garage door opener, Heated front seats, Memory seat w/ poer steering column – driver only, rain sensing windshield wipers, Integrated compass in rear view mirror, SIRIUS satellite radio – first 6 months are free).

You’re still responsible for tax, title, license and fees… however your first payment is taken care of by the dealer and there is no customer cash (cap cost reduction) required at signing.

Remember, if you need 12,000 or 15,000 miles per year you can get them, but the monthly payment changes. If you want a car with the Multi Media Package and thus a higher MSRP, the monthly payment will also change.

Bottom line is that lease rates are good, and there are a lot of cars currently in stock to choose from. C class sales are up significantly from 2009, as you can see from the Mercedes-Benz Sales Figures article I posted the other day, don’t wait any longer, now is the time, before interest rates begin to climb along with lease rates.

Mercedes-Benz to Build C Class in Alabama

Mercedes-Benz will add production of C-class sedans to its plant near Tuscaloosa, Ala., starting in 2014.

Daimler AG Chairman Dieter Zetsche, who participated in the creation of the Alabama plant project as a fast-rising executive in 1993, said in a statement released from Stuttgart that the U.S. operation will take over about one-fifth of the model’s global production.

The Tuscaloosa plant currently is the source of Mercedes-Benz crossovers and SUVs, the M-class, R-class and GL-class.

While the plant expanded several times to keep up with a seemingly insatiable world appetite for the large vehicles over the past decade, the crashing U.S. SUV market has left the plant underused for two years.

Rainer Schmuckle, COO for Mercedes-Benz Cars, said the move would help Mercedes in the “tough competition in the C-class segment.”

“This applies not only to our direct production costs, but also to the import duty and logistics advantages,” he said in the statement.

The likely addition of the C-class has been rumored among Mercedes’ suppliers since last year as the Alabama plant struggled with reduced volumes and staff reductions.

Zetsche’s statement said that moving C-class volume to the United States will require some shifting of products in Germany to protect jobs there. European C-class production from the Mercedes Sindelfingen plant will be consolidated at the company’s plant in Bremen. Bremen will hand off assembly of the SL roadster to Sindelfingen.

According to the statement, Sindelfingen will become “a worldwide competence center for the production of premium and luxury automobiles, increasingly with alternative powertrain systems.”

The world's first hybrid car with Lithium Ion batteries.

Palm Springs, CA – As the official vehicle of the 21st Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival, Mercedes-Benz rolled-out its environmentally friendly hybrid luxury vehicles for Hollywood’s elite. The Festival, which runs from January 5-18, 2010, starts the winter awards season with a spectacular program of films and a must-attend gala.

The two week celebration of films kicked-off with the Gala Awards Dinner on January 5th, where celebrity presenters and honorees such as Sean Penn, Helen Mirren, Marion Cotillard, Michelle Pfieffer, Lee Daniels, Rob Marshall, Diablo Cody, T Bone Burnett, Anna Kendrick and Jeff Bridges were driven in Mercedes-Benz 2010 S400 HYBRID luxury sedans and ML450 HYBRID SUVs.

“Mercedes-Benz is proud to support the festival and the Palm Springs International Film Society as a sponsor and official vehicle for the seventh consecutive year,” says Jill Martinette, Mercedes-Benz Regional Marketing Manager. “The festival’s red carpet arrivals and A-list honorees are a perfect opportunity to show that being eco-friendly is possible without sacrificing luxury.”

The S400 HYBRID features the world’s first lithium-ion battery in a production vehicle. The 275-hp V6 gasoline engine provides impressive fuel economy with an estimated 30 miles per gallon on the highway.

The ML450 HYBRID mid-size SUV uses a 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine, two electric motors and sophisticated electronics to produce more than 46 percent better fuel economy than a comparable V8-powered ML550 model.

Throughout the two week festival, Mercedes-Benz is displaying several additional eco-friendly vehicles including the C300 Sedan, GLK350 SUV and the 2010 E350 Sedan and Coupe. Built with 85 percent recyclable materials, all four are powered by highly efficient V6 engines that achieve the California Air Resources Board’s most stringent exhaust rating as a Partial Zero Emissions Vehicle (PZEV).

Mercedes-Benz Reveals New Design Concept: “abstract” in Detroit

At the Detroit Auto Show Mercedes-Benz takes the idea of a concept car to en entirely new level. Mercedes-Benz just unveiled the new Mercedes-Benz Design Concept at the Detroit Auto Show. Called “abstract” by Mercedes CEO Dr. Dieter Zetsche.

It’s meant to give people a glimpse at the future of Mercedes-Benz design, and is described by the company as a sculpture. “It represents a vehicle rising gently from a level plane – as if formed from liquid silver, or like a shimmering cloth draped gently over a new form,” according to the Mercedes press release. “Clear, contoured surfaces are framed by crisp arcs, lending the sculpture an organic appearance that is both retrospective and forward-looking.”
