Mercedes Benz USA has released the 2011 sales report! It confirms the biggest sales year ever! The official count from MBUSA is 264,460 vehicles in 2011, almost a 20% increase over the total sales number in 2010. November was a huge month for Mercedes-Benz sales, December proved tobe a big month as well. December 2011 sales numbers were up slightly more than 30% over December 2010, a huge increase. As usual, the C class represented the largest sales volume, E class sales were brisk while the new M class SUV continued to sell at dealerships as fast as they could arrive from the Alabama factory. If you keep track of the sales battle between the luxury brands, you have probably seen that BMW was the leader in total volume in 2011, Mercedes Benz was a very close second and Lexus was third. It’s the first time in many years that Lexus wasn’t the top volume seller. The tragic earthquake in Japan disrupted Lexus sufficiently this year to set just about every link in their supply chain back, far enough to make way for BMW and Mercedes to slide into the number one and two sales volume slots.

We’ll have to see what 2012 brings… there are plenty of people still talking nothing but doom and gloom for the economy, but I talk to plenty of people, every day, who are doing very well and expect things to only get better. (official press release below).

MERCEDES-BENZ RECORDS THE HIGHEST YEAR ON RECORD WITH SALES OF 264,460
For Release: Jan. 4, 2012

MONTVALE, N.J. – Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported 264,460 vehicles sold in 2011, representing the highest annual volume on record with a 17.5% increase over the 225,007 vehicles sold during the same period in 2010. On a month-to-date basis, 28,006 vehicles were sold in December, a 30.4% improvement over December 2010 (21,469).

The all-new sporty C-Class – the gateway to the Mercedes-Benz brand for younger and first time Mercedes-Benz buyers – was the volume leader for the year with sales of 69,314, up 17.9% over its year-to-date volume in 2010. The 9th generation E-Class followed with sales of 62,736, and the all-new versatile M-Class rounded out the top three with sales of 35,835. Total diesel units sold in 2011 numbered 14,358, an 85.2% increase over the same period last year.

For December, sales at the high-end continued strong as the 2012 CLS-Class posted an increase of 155.2% for the month. The company also sold 86 of its supercar — the SLS AMG — up 79.2% from December 2010, bringing its year-to-date sales to 722.

Separately, sales of Sprinter Vans also increased by 15.7% in December with sales of 1,595 – bringing a year-to-date total of 16,577 (up 93.7 % for the year).

Sales of the smart fortwo totaled 710 vehicles in December, up 24.6% for the month (compared to the 570 vehicles sold in December 2010). For the year, smart brand sales were 5,208 (compared to 5,927 sold in 2010).

Additionally, through the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) program, MBUSA sold 6,112 vehicles in December 2011, a decrease of 3.5%. On a year-to-date basis, MBCPO sold 74,571 vehicles, a decrease of 7.6% over the comparable period last year.

The Mercedes-Benz sales numbers report for October 2011 looks awfully good, sales were up 28.2% for the month and up 12% for the year 2011.This sales surge was felt all the way down the food chain, as, on a personal note, October 2011 was my personal best month in my almost 4 year career in the car business! I should thank all of my customers for that… it was a great October 2011.

The 24 hour news channels talk nothing but doom and gloom for the economy and consumer confidence, but I’m seeing all sorts of small business owners, executives and professionals from all types of industries coming in to take advantage of all the current new Mercedes-Benz deals out there. These people are smart, they’re not just writing checks for big cars because they can, they’re taking advantage of current incentives and programs, historically low finance rates, they’re negotiating good deals because they see VALUE in the current new car market. They are also taking advantage of a historically high trade in prices for their old vehicles due to a strong used car market.

Maybe if FOX News and CNN would report some good news for a change people might feel better about what’s happening in the world. Okay… enough of that… below is the official MBUSA press release (edited a bit for length) and the breakdown of sales by model for October 2011.

MERCEDES-BENZ REPORTS HIGHEST OCTOBER ON RECORD WITH SALES OF 24,449

Sales Up 28.2% for the Month and 12% for the Year

MONTVALE, N.J. – Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported October sales of 24,449 vehicles, a 28.2% improvement over October 2010 (19,076) and the company’s highest October volume on record. On a year-to-date basis, the 206,632 vehicles sold represent a 12% increase over the 184,431 vehicles sold during the same period last year.

The highest volume performers for the month were the C-Class and E-Class model lines. The all-new 2012 sporty C-Class – gateway to the Mercedes-Benz brand for younger and first-time Mercedes-Benz buyers – led the pack with sales of 7,084, up 87.9% from October 2010. The 9th generation E-Class followed with sales of 4,516 and the all-new versatile M-Class, finished third in volume with monthly sales of 4,091. Additionally, sales of the 2012 CLS-Class posted a 192.3% increase for the month and sales of the new SLK roadster were up 58.2% over October 2010.

Total diesel units sold for October were up 110.9% with sales of 1,930 (vs. 915 units sold in Oct. 2010).

At the high end, the company sold 13 of its supercar — the SLS AMG — bringing its year-to date sales to 467.

Sales of Sprinter Vans also increased by 104.8% for October with sales of 1,485 – bringing a year-to-date total of 13,937 (up 119.4 %).

Sales of the smart fortwo totaled 327 vehicles for the month (compared to the 367 vehicles sold in October 2010).

Separately, through the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) program, MBUSA sold 5,571 vehicles in October 2011, a decrease of 21.8%. On a year-to-date basis, MBCPO sold 62,929 vehicles, a decrease of 7.6% over the comparable period last year.

The Mercedes Benz Competitor Conquest Program is back and better than ever during the Mercedes-Benz Winter event running through the end of the year!

This month, November 2011, Jeep and Volkswagen were added to the more than 10 other makes that are eligible for the competitor conquest program already!

It’s very easy, no tricks or gimmicks, If you currently own or lease a BMW, Audi,. Lexus, Porsche, Jaguar, Range Rover / Land Rover, Acura, Infiniti, Cadillac, Lincoln, Volvo, or now, a Jeep or Volkswagen, vehicle and you lease or buy any of the eligible Mercedes Benz vehicles (everything except the SLS AMG or Sprinter), you’re in for a big discount.

You just have to prove ownership, or better said, prove that the vehicle is currently registered to you, and the discounts will be applied by your local dealer at the time of the new car purchase. You don’t have to trade in the competitor’s car, simply prove ownership.

I repeat: There is no catch! If you have any of these competing luxury brands you’re in for big competitor conquest discounts. I personally took advantage of this program when I leased my new C300 several months ago. I owned a 1998 Volvo V70R station wagon at the time, it had about 108,000 miles on it. It was 13 years old and in need of some expensive repairs. I ended up using that car to take advantage of the Competitor Conquest Program from Mercedes-Benz, I got $2,000 towards the new C class lease and ended up selling the Volvo to my friend and mechanic who had been maintaining it for me for the past several years. He did the repairs the car needed and got a great car, I got a big discount on my new C class… a win / win.

By now, most 2011 models are long gone, although there are still a handful of E classes here at Sears Imports that are eligible for the $4,000 discount, I sold one of them myself on Saturday.

What a month! June 2011 was the strongest June for Mercedes-Benz USA sales on record while 2011 represents the best first half sales totals for MBUSA EVER, 22,563 total units sold in June 2011 with 118,021 total units sold YTD for 2011, Wow! I’ve posted the official MBUSA press release regarding the June 2011 sales figures below the sales chart showing total units by class.

What I find so interesting, and exciting here, is that a bunch of great new models haven’t even been released yet and Mercedes-Benz is putting up these very strong lease numbers… the all new, re-designed ML is due in soon, the C class coupe hasn’t even arrived in dealerships yet and Mercedes-Benz is putting up huge sales numbers. Where will the numbers go when these new, direct injection engines are available in all of these vehicles?

As cliche as it is for the car guy to say it… it really is a good time to buy a new vehicle. We’re paying more for good trade ins than ever before, finance and lease rates are at historic lows… it’s not rhetoric… read anything online and you’ll hear the same message, it’s a good time to buy or lease a new vehicle.

MERCEDES-BENZ REPORTS BEST JUNE ON RECORD WITH SALES OF 22,563

 Sales Up 18.8% for the Month and 10.4 % for the First Half of the Year

MONTVALE, N.J. – Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported June sales of 22,563 vehicles, an 18.8 % improvement over June 2010, and the company’s highest June volume and first half of the year on record. On a year-to-date basis, the 118,021 vehicles sold represent a 10.4% increase.

The highest volume performers for the month were the E- and C-Class model lines. The 9th generation E-Class led the pack with sales of 5,798, up 19.1% over June 2010. The sporty C-Class –the gateway to the Mercedes-Benz brand for younger and first-time Mercedes-Benz buyers – continued its strong momentum with sales of 4,620. MBUSA’s stylish SUV, the M-Class, finished third in volume with monthly sales of 3,071, up 44.6% over last June. Additionally, sales of the all-new 2012 CLS-Class four-dour coupe were up 645.5% and the full-sized GL-Class SUV posted a 75.9% increase over June 2010.

Sales of Mercedes-Benz diesel models were up 128.4% for the month (1,231 versus 539) and up 188.3 % for the year (5,953 versus 2,727).

At the high end, sales of the commanding G-Class were up 89.1% for the month and the company sold 18 of its supercar — the SLS AMG — bringing its year-to-date sales to 348.

Sales of Sprinter Vans also increased by 162.5% for the month, with sales of 1,911 – bringing a year-to-date total of 7,095 (up 102.1 %).

Separately, through the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) program, MBUSA sold 6,413 vehicles in June 2011, a decrease of 0.2%. On a year-to-date basis, MBCPO sold 39,863 vehicles, a decrease of 3.6 % over the comparable period last year.

It was a good May for Mercedes-Benz USA, sales were up, over last year and a number of specific model sales were up considerably over the same period last year. I am happy to report that I not only helped in selling some of the cars adding up to this more than 20,000 units sold, but I also bought one.

Tobin's direct contribution to more than 20,000 new MB units sold in May 2011.

The May deals on the new C300 4matic were too good to pass up so I gave up my Volvo V70R wagon and stepped into a C class. While it’s the ‘entry level car’ and people always wonder how they will be received it has already won me over. It handles extremely well, has plenty of power for driving around town, commuting and for a couple of short highway trips I’ve already taken. The C300 is just right and with the 4matic all wheel drive system will be great in the Minnesota Winter.

Sales Up 5.9% for the Month and 8.5 % Year-to-Date

June 1, 2011 MONTVALE, N.J. – Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported May sales of 20,306 vehicles, a 5.9 % improvement over May 2010, and the best May on record since May 2008. On a year-to-date basis, the 95,458 vehicles sold represent an 8.5 % increase.

The highest volume performers for the month were the E- and C-Class model lines. The 9th generation E-Class led the pack with sales of 5,751, up 5% over May 2010. The sporty C-Class – the gateway to the Mercedes-Benz brand for younger and first-time Mercedes-Benz buyers – continued its strong momentum with sales of 4,936. MBUSA’s compact SUV, the GLK-Class, finished third in volume with monthly sales of 2,214, up 22.1% over last year. Additionally, sales of the versatile R-Class crossover were up 237 % over May 2010.

Sales of Mercedes-Benz diesel models were up 108.5% for the month (1,147 versus 550) and up 115.8 % for the year (4,722 versus 2,188).

At the high end, the company sold 21 of its supercar — the SLS AMG — bringing its year-to date sales to 330.

Sales of Sprinter Vans also increased by 126.1% for the month, with sales of 1,420 – bringing a year-to-date total of 5,184 (up 102.1 %).

Separately, through the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) program, MBUSA sold 6,818 vehicles in May 2011, a decrease of 2.1%. On a year-to-date basis, MBCPO sold 33,450 vehicles, a decrease of 4.1 % over the comparable period last year.

March sales numbers for Mercedes-Benz are in and they look pretty good, in fact, the best March and 1st Quarter ever (see actual sales numbers by vehicle class below and the the MBUSA press release below that). Things are looking good for 2011 as whole as dealerships gear up for the spring and Summer selling season. Here in Minnesota we’ve seen a serious increase in dealership traffic now that the snow has started to melt away.

People seem much more comfortable today when buying a car than they did a year ago based on a silver lining appearing on the dark economic cloud that’s been hanging over us for so long. There seems to be more optimism about the economy and plenty of people excited to take advantage of the great deals that Mercedes-Benz is offering new customers in the form of lease and finance specials and the great deals being offered to current lease and finance customers in the form of “Loyalty Programs” and rebates and incentives only available to current Mercedes-Benz customers. MERCEDES-BENZ REPORTS BEST MARCH AND FIRST QUARTER ON RECORD WITH SALES OF 22,546

Sales Up 12.6% for the Month and 10.7% for the First Quarter

MONTVALE, N.J. – Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported March sales of 22,546 vehicles, a 12.6 % improvement over March 2010 and the company’s highest March volume and first quarter on record. On a year-to-date basis, the 55,995 vehicles sold represent a 10.7% increase.

The highest volume performers for the month were the C- and E-Class model lines. The sporty C-Class – the gateway to the Mercedes-Benz brand for younger and first-time Mercedes-Benz buyers – led the pack with sales of 6,542, up 8.9% over March 2010. The 9th generation E-Class continued its strong momentum with sales of 6,107, up 21.1% over last year.

MBUSA’s versatile SUV, the M-Class, finished third in volume with sales of 2,792, up 29.6% compared to March 2010. The R-Class crossover also made gains with sales up 76.7% year-to-date, followed by the commanding G-Class, up 59.7% over March 2010. The company also sold 102 of its supercar — the SLS AMG — bringing its year-to-date sales to 255.

Sales of Sprinter Vans increased by 175.1% for the month, with sales of 1,062 – bringing a year-to-date total of 2,649 – up 98.1%.

Separately, through the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) program, MBUSA sold 7,236 vehicles in March, a 7.2% decrease when compared to March 2010. On a year-to-date basis, MBCPO sold 19,539 vehicles, a decrease of 3.2 % over the comparable period last year.

It’s that time of the month again, time to look back at the February 2011 sales numbers and see how Mercedes-Benz did. The official MBUSA Press Release is pasted below as well as the sales graph by model. Once again new car sales were led by the C and E class vehicles lines, slightly up over February of 2010. Overall sales were up almost 10% from last year which is an encouraging sign.

It was interesting to see total SLS AMG units sold year to date at153. If they keep that pace going they will sell close to 1000 SLS AMG cars this year, and with the introduction of the SLS AMG Roadster it could even be more than that. Not that a ‘halo car’ has much of an impact on anything other than good publicity and creating an enthusiast following, it’s just interesting to watch the numbers.

Finance specials for March on the C, GLK and M classes may boost their sales further. Conquest and Loyalty programs will surely help the E class along this month. So… without further ado…. the sales report from MBUSA:

MERCEDES-BENZ REPORTS FEBRUARY SALES OF 16,176

Sales Up 5.1% for the Month and 9.5% Year-to-Date

MONTVALE, N.J. – Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported February sales of 16,176 vehicles, a 5.1 % improvement over February 2010 and the highest February volume since 2008. On a year-to-date basis, the 33,449 vehicles sold represent a 9.5% increase.

The highest volume performers for the month were the C- and E-Class model lines. The sporty C-Class – the gateway to the Mercedes-Benz brand for younger and first-time Mercedes-Benz buyers – lead the pack with sales of 4,479, up 5.5% over February 2010. The 9th generation E-Class continued its strong momentum with sales of 4,203, up 4% over February 2010.

MBUSA’s versatile SUV, the M-Class, followed in volume with sales of 1,924, up 16.3% compared to February 2010 while the compact GLK SUV trailed closely with sales of 1,853. At the high end, the iconic SL-Class was up 83.7%, followed by the commanding G-Class, up 40% and the CL flagship coupe increased by 35.1%. The company also sold 83 of its supercar – - the SLS AMG — bringing its year-to-date sales to 153.

Sales of Sprinter Vans increased by 38.3% for the month to 712 and to 1,587 on a year-to date basis, up 66.9%.

Separately, through the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) program, MBUSA sold 5,860 vehicles in February; a 4.8% decrease when compared to February 2010 (sales of 6,153 vehicles). On a year-to-date basis, MBCPO sold 12,303 vehicles, a decrease of 0.6 % over the comparable period (with sales of 12,382).

HIGHEST SALES MONTH FOR THE YEAR AT 21,469 BRINGS MERCEDES-BENZ TO AN 18 PERCENT INCREASE FOR 2010

 MONTVALE, N.J. – Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) reported December sales of 21,469 vehicles, its highest monthly volume of the year, bringing the company’s 2010 total to 225,007, an increase of 18% over 2009.

Ernst Lieb, president and CEO of MBUSA said: “Despite the challenges of a slow recovery, we see good indicators in terms of our sales volume throughout the model range. This is certainly due in large part to the customer-directed efforts we’ve undertaken here at MBUSA over the past few years and the extraordinary commitment of our retail network to provide an unmatched ownership experience. As virtually all third-party indicators show, customers are confident about the Mercedes-Benz brand and we think that will translate to even stronger momentum going forward.”

The 9th generation E-Class was the volume leader for both the month and year, with December sales of 5,638, bringing its annual volume to 60,922 – a 41.4 % increase over its volume in 2009. The C Class– the gateway to the Mercedes-Benz brand for younger and first-time Mercedes-Benz buyers – followed with monthly sales of 4,924 and a yearly total of 58,785, a 12.1 % increase over last. Rounding out the top three volume lines was the popular M-Class SUV which posted monthly sales of 3,783 bringing its annual volume to 29,698, a 15.1 % increase over last year.

Sales at the high end continued strong for 2010 with the commanding G-Class up 38.8 % for the year and the flagship S-Class sedan up 21.5 %. The company sold 48 of its top-of-the-line supercar – the SLS AMG – in December, bringing its annual total to 499.

Things continue to improve in the Mercedes-Benz business. It’s nice to see how things have improved from the same time last year. Here is the official press release and the sales figures for the month of November 2010. Another 36 SLS AMG gullwing cars were delivered in November, our second SLS will be ready for delivery to its new owner in February I believe… that’s pretty exciting.

E and GL class vehicles are selling really well which is great to see. Quality vehicles continue to do well despite a slowly recovering economy.

MONTVALE, N.J. – Mercedes-Benz USA (MBUSA) today reported its highest November sales volume since 2007 with sales of 19,037, an increase of 13.3% for the month. On a year-to-date basis, sales increased 19.4% to 203,468.

Impressive gains continued in both the Mercedes-Benz passenger car and light-truck categories. The strongest performer for the month was the 9th generation E-Class with sales of 4,986 bringing its year-to-date total to 55,869 (up 25.4%). The popular and sporty C-Class followed with sales of 3,930 and the versatile M-Class SUV rounded out the top three volume performers with sales of 3,470 for the month.

Sales at the high end continued strong with sales of the flagship CL coupe up 159.2%. Also showing strong gains for the month were the elegant CLS coupe up 130.8% and the commanding G-Class sport utility vehicle up 67.6%. The company also sold 36 of the newly launched supercar – the SLS AMG – bringing its year-to-date sales to 451.

Separately, through the Mercedes-Benz Certified Pre-Owned (MBCPO) program, MBUSA sold 6,275 vehicles in November, up 35.6 % compared to November 2009 sales of 5,369 vehicles. Year-to-date sales for the MBCPO program were 74,363 – a 11.3 % increase over 2009 year-todate sales (66, 788 vehicles) during the same timeframe.
